Item Number: 321 IRS DIFFERENTIAL

Finally, a rear suspension option that does not use the half shaft as a control arm! This is not re-worked Jaguar or Corvette geometry. Our completely fresh approach to high performance rear suspension employs upper and lower  'A' arms for superior geometry. This rugged design features the following:

  • Inboard mounted coil-over shocks

  • Widely available 8.8” Ford differential mounted in a compact chassis sub-assembly
  • The wide control arm mount base works to control fore / aft wheel deflection inherent in other systems under acceleration and braking.
  • Wide range of track widths are available to accommodate most popular vehicle track dimensions from 56” hub to hub.
  • Wheel bolt patterns of either 5 on 100mm or 5 on 115mm (the new popular GM intermediate pattern). and 5 on 4 3/4"
  •  Spring rates and shock valving are available to tailor ride quality to individual needs, from street rod comfort to high performance GT handling.
  • Brake options featuring Wilwood calipers and 11"  12"  13" and massive 14" CrossDrilled and Slotted Rotors

The most Frequently Asked Question is - How do I know if your Rear Suspension will fit in my Car or Truck?

In order to adapt this rear suspension to a variety of vehicles, we take the following approach:

  1. Customer sends rough measurements of his frame
  2. We create a 3D model of the frame and virtually fit my IRS ( you can see examples of this in the images at the bottom of this page.
  3. Customer and I collaborate on further details to further the design of the center section.
  4. Customer provides a $500 deposit.
  5. We create a lightweight center section. This piece is made of masonite - not steel... This is just a mock-up used to model my steel IRS unit. It is far easier and cheaper to manufacture such a lightweight, custom piece... not to mention how much cheaper it is to ship the lightweight model.
  6. Customer modifies the lightweight center section to fit and sends it back to us. Since this is made of masonite, it is easily cut, marked, etc... no need for a grinder, welding, etc.
  7. Once We receive the customer's modified piece, We create a steel part based on the customer's updated design and send it back to customer for the customer to verify the final fit
  8. At that point, the $500 is applied to the cost of a Rear Suspension and I deliver the remaining parts.

To be clear, the "Center Section" is the part of the IRS assembly that locates the Differential, mounts the upper and lower control arms and the coilover shocks. My IRS unit is modular in design and allows for using the same Upper and Lower control arms, Spindles, Brakes, etc.. for design to design... Since the Center Section mounts to the Car's ( or Truck's ) frame... it is fairly obvious that this must change from application to application... Mounting my IRS in a Trike will be quite different from mounting the IRS in a Pickup Truck or a T-Bucket, etc...
